Division Director, Religious Immigration Services

JOB DESCRIPTION: Division Director to oversee attorneys in the Division of Religious Immigration Services

CLINIC is recruiting applicants to direct and manage its Religious Immigration Services Division. The mission of the
division is to provide legal representation to arch/dioceses, religious institutes and orders bringing religious
workers to the United States.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Position responsibilities include direct client representation, supervision of legal staff,
budget preparation and management, resource development, administrative advocacy, and training.  

The start date is as soon as possible, and the position will be located in CLINIC's national office in Washington,
DC. Qualified candidates must be licensed attorneys with experience representing immigrants including religious
workers; at least five years project management experience; knowledge of the Catholic Church; and excellent
oral and written communication skills. Salary range starting in upper 70s, depending on experience. Excellent
fringe benefits.

Title:        Immigration Attorney (2)

Job Summary:        The Immigration Attorney provides counsel and representation to low income immigrants
and their families in immigration matters.  Assists with intake and consultations; prepares petitions, applications,
motions and legal memoranda concerning family-based matters, TPS, NACARA, adjustment, hardship waiver,
asylum, Cancellation, VAWA, religious worker; provides representation in CIS interviews in Baltimore, MD and
Arlington, VA; provides representation in Immigration Court in Baltimore, MD, and before the BIA; assists with
community outreach and education and group presentations and workshops; represents agency at community
and professional functions and meetings; assists with coordinating and supervising volunteers and interns.


QUALIFICATIONS:
1.        J.D. Degree; licensed to practice at least in one state.
2.        At least one  year experience in immigration law.
3.        Excellent oral and written communication skills.
4.        Analytical, leadership and interpersonal skills.
5.        Fluent English and Spanish, speaking and writing.
6.        Demonstrated interest in legal service for low-income.
7.        Experience in serving culturally diverse client
s.
8.        Ability to work independently and under pressure.
9.        Three years driving experience with maximum 3 points.

Job Description:   Catholic Charities of Oregon - Immigration Legal Services (Medford, OR)

TITLE:  Immigration Attorney

Reports To:  Immigration Legal Services Program Manager/Attorney

Salary:       Mid  $30's.  Position includes full benefits.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.  Assist in procuring immigration status for low-income immigrants in southwest Oregon.
2.   Represent clients before the Department of Homeland Security, Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS)
and act as a liaison between CIS and clients in administrative matters.   

3.  Effectively represent Catholic Charities and the immigration program at community functions and other events,
as requested. Give presentations on immigration issues, as requested.

4.  Work with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and help them obtain relief under the Violence
Against Women Act and other relevant provisions of the Immigration & Nationality Act.

5. Conduct community outreach and education around the issue of immigration and domestic violence.

6. Recruit and train pro bono attorneys. Refer clients to pro bono attorneys.

7. Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   Experience or strong interest in immigration law or criminal law, preferably as an attorney or  BIA accredited
representative.  

2.   Excellent written and oral communications skills.  Must be bilingual (English/Spanish).

3.   Proficiency using immigration forms software,  typing and data entry.

4.   Cultural competency of working with low-income immigrant communities and a strong desire to work with
this population.

5.   Ability to work independently
yet seek supervision, as appropriate; ability to work well with others, under
pressure.


6.   Ability to work with and assess the needs of different ethnic groups.

7   Experience with or sensitivity work with victims of crime or domestic violence.
