Division of Religious Immigration Services
LEGAL SERVICES
The Division currently provides the following services to arch/dioceses and religious
institutes:
- R-1 visa applications
- R-2 visa applications for spouse and dependents:
- Change of status (from one nonimmigrant category to another nonimmigrant
category while in the U.S.)
- R-1 extensions (from inside the U.S.)
- F-1 visa applications
- Change of status to F-1
- Visitor extensions (from inside the U.S.)
- H-1B visa application
- H-1B Petitions
- Mexico/Canada travel letter
- Casual travel letter, if eligible (with valid visa)
- Special Immigrant Classification (I-360 Petition)
- Adjustment of status to lawful permanent resident (from non-immigrant category
to immigrant status). Also includes first-time applications for Employment
Authorization and Travel Document, if eligible
- Employment Authorization or Travel Document Renewal
- Reentry permit
- Returning Resident Visa or Immigrant Visa Consular Processing
- Permanent Resident Card renewal
- Preservation of Residence for citizenship purposes
- Naturalization Application (N-400)
- Surcharge for expedited filing of an application that is due to USCIS (formerly INS)
within 5 business days, or it is overdue
There are also services that DRIS provides that are billed to clients at an hourly rate:
- Consultations via telephone or e-mail
- Correspondence to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
- Correspondence with clients and/or individuals
- Requests for Evidence/Information, Appeals, Denials, Deferred Inspections, etc
- Cases requiring corrective action, such as cases that come to DRIS because of
erroneously issued visas or admissions, etc.
- Consular intervention
- Special Appearances with individuals assisted at USCIS office
- Mexico/Canada travel letter
- Casual travel letter, if eligible (with valid visa)
- Preservation of Residence for citizenship purposes
- Visitor extensions (from inside the U.S.)
- Miscellaneous Services
