PLANNED GIVING
CLINIC was founded in 1988 as an independently
constituted, tax-exempt organization that serves
low-income immigrants without reference to religion,
race, nationality, or ethnicity. We are the only immigrant
legal services organization of national scope. CLINIC
and its nationwide community-based programs provide
legal services to tens of thousands of qualified
individuals each year.
CLINIC is a 501(c)(3) organization. Your contribution
may be tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. A
copy of CLINIC's financial statement is available by
writing to us at the address above.
WHY GIVE
CLINIC helps over 100,000 immigrants in need of
legal services every year. Your contribution is
important to the organization, but even more to
the newcomers who rely on CLINIC to help them
through some of the most difficult times of their
lives.
Your gift to CLINIC will help reunite immigrant
families, gain protection for those who fear
persecution in their native lands, and help lawful
permanent residents to become U.S. citizens.
CASE STUDY
Your Financial Support Helped Johny
Figueroa Join His Sister.
Johny Figueroa’s mother left him when he was
just a small child. She moved from Honduras to
Los Angeles, where she died giving birth to
Johny’s sister. He never knew his father. At 16,
having grown up in abject poverty, he set out
for Los Angeles to find his sister, visit his mom’s
grave, and get an education.
After a harrowing two-month journey, riding
freight trains and sleeping under trees and
bushes, he finally reached the U.S. border,
where he was promptly arrested. He was
turned over to immigration authorities and spent
two months in juvenile detention, often shackled,
frightened and subjected to abuse by fellow
inmates.
CLINIC attorneys worked hard through this
period to free him and reunite him with his sister
and her family. Finally, Johny’s status was
adjusted. He was freed, has a real home, and is
now going to school. His dream is to become an
American citizen. And we have no doubt that his
dream will come true!

The Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC)
is one of the Church's best kept secrets. It plays an
indispensable role in the Catholic Church's ministry to
newcomers in the United States. We have been
accurately called a church of immigrants in a nation of
immigrants.
With record numbers of newcomers in our pews and in
our nation, this is as true now as it has ever been.
CLINIC's work has never been more important to the
Church and to our nation's newest members.
-His Eminence Theodore Cardinal McCarrick
CLINIC is a respected policy voice and agent for
change on the national level, because of its
effectiveness on the ground in representing
immigrants and supporting grass-roots immigration
programs.
