Caminando Juntos, the Presentation Sisters ministry with Hispanic immigrants in the Sioux Falls area, received the
Start-Up Program Award from the Catholic Legal Immigration Network Inc. at its annual convening this month.
According to the inscription on the award, it is given in recognition of the “best new program and assistance to an
underserved population.”
In her introduction at the award presentation, Susan Schreiber, C.L.I.N.I.C.’s Midwest field attorney, said, “I’m
delighted to present C.L.I.N.I.C.’s Start-up Program Award to Caminando Juntos ... and to Janet Horstman, program
director and accredited representative. There are only two recognized agencies (in South Dakota) and two
accredited representatives in the entire state, so Sister Janet effectively doubled the state’s legal services
resources by her creation of a new program."
The Presentation Sisters at Caminando Juntos offer a variety of services to assist Hispanic immigrants in the area.
Horstman is an accredited immigration legal specialist and available to assist with legalization needs.
