CLINIC, with 85 organizations, joined in urging the Justice Department and Office of Management and Budget to allow for a minimum 60-day comment period to respond to EOIR's Notice of Public Rulemaking titled, "Asylum and Withholding of Removal Procedures." EOIR announced the proposal to amend its regulations governing asylum and withholding of removal on Sept. 23, 2020, providing stakeholders with only 30 days to respond. Stakeholders ask for an extension of the comment period to provide a meaningful opportunity to analyze and respond to proposals that would further erode the fairness in our immigration courts.
