The Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. announces the launch of the National Immigrant Empowerment Project, known as NIEP. CLINIC seeks to fund eight affiliates in rural areas for this four-year project through a competitive request for proposals.

The NIEP will:

• Mobilize low-income immigrant communities and their supporters to create social change based on local needs
• Identify and train additional immigrant leaders to develop existing but underutilized infrastructure in support of integration efforts
• Provide education and promote understanding about poverty and its root causes
• Empower immigrants living in poverty to participate in decisions that affect their lives, families and communities.
