Crime-Based Inadmissibility

This workshop, intended for beginners, will guide you through the basics of crime-based inadmissibility. We have just met a potential client who is seeking adjustment of status through his U.S. citizen wife but has been arrested in the United States. Can he still obtain his green card? We will consider whether our client is inadmissible, on what grounds, and whether a waiver is available to him. We will discuss inadmissibility based on convictions for crimes involving moral turpitude and controlled substance offenses. We will discuss the definition of “conviction” for immigration purposes and when waivers are available for crime-based inadmissibility. Together we will review and analyze our client’s criminal records and help to provide him the best advice on next steps for his immigration journey
